KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – Is nothing sacred to computer hackers? Apparently not because they have invaded the data base of the Catholic Conference, the agency that processes the payroll and employee benefits for 10,000 workers at Catholic schools, hospitals, orphanages and church offices including the staff in the six diocesan offices in Michigan.
A spokesman says they think the hackers got names and Social Security numbers, and they are offering a free year of credit monitoring and other security services. They say there has also been a lot of prayers since the breach was discovered.
