COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – AAA Michigan says gas prices have fallen 32-cents in the last week and that trend downward is expected to continue. Spokesperson Susan Hiltz says the return to production of the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana is one big reason, but Patrick DeHaan at Gasbuddy.com says we are just catching up to the lower prices already enjoyed by the rest of the nation because of reduced demand worldwide and concerns about China.
Right now the average price statewide is about $2.52 a gallon for self-serve regular although it’s selling anywhere from 10 to 20 cents a gallon under that in some locations across Southwest Michigan.
In the Coldwater area, the week starts with most stations at around $2.45 a gallon.
