LAS VEGAS, NV (WTVB) – Coldwater is now home to a National Championship billiard team. The local group, dubbed Just Scouting by their team Captain, brought home $25,000 for winning the 2015 APA 8-Ball National Team Championship this month in Las Vegas. Members of the team include Captain Matthew Leckner, Eric Anglin, Nicole Janusz, Richard Cabral, Joey Bills, Clint Siekemeyer, and John Squier II.
Just Scouting advanced to the Nationals by qualifying at their Local Team Championship. More than 700 teams comprised the APA 8-Ball National field. The seven-day event was conducted by the American Poolplayers Association August 16-22 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
The APA produces three major tournaments each year that with the team, singles, and U.S. Amateur Championship together, pay out nearly $1.5 million in cash and prizes annually.
