Ralph Everett Thurston, 93, of Union City passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Sherwood Township Cemetery. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Ralph was born on May 5, 1926 in Battle Creek, MI to Alvin and Emma (Parks) Thurston. He attended school in Athens and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a landing craft operator in the South Pacific Theater from 1944-1946. Ralph farmed most of his life and worked at Eaton Corporation in Battle Creek. After retirement, he lived in various other areas, including Florida, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Montana.
Surviving are his sister Ruby (Harold) Wieschelek of Burlington and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; a sister, Luella Robinson; and a brother, Paul Thurston.
