Raymond E. Johnson, 78, of Leonidas Township, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Calhoun County Medical Facility in Battle Creek and was taken home to be with our Lord and Savior.
A luncheon to celebrate Raymond's life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 P.M. at the Factoryville Bible Church Fellowship Hall, located at 33650 Factoryville Rd, Athens, MI 49011.
A private graveside service will be held at Factoryville Cemetery. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Raymond was the son of Raymond M. and Rose (Eyre) Johnson, born on June 24, 1941 in Coldwater, MI. Raymond’s family lived in Union City and he graduated from Union City High School in 1960. Raymond was married to Rita Thurston on June 8, 1963. They lived for a short time in Colon, Bronson, Coldwater and Sherwood. Raymond and Rita put down their roots and have lived outside of Athens for the last 45 years, where Raymond owned and operated RJ Body Shop for 36 of those years. Raymond and Rita have been members of Factoryville Bible Church since 1974. Raymond was loved dearly by his wife and family, who always came first in his life.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita; daughters Rhonda (Don) Muckel of New Era, Rebecca (Tim) Faulk of Athens, Renee (Kent) Connolly of Portage and son, Raymond Johnson, Jr. of Ocala, FL; a good friend, Richie Allen of Burr Oak; grandsons Ted Faulk and Lance Faulk; step-grandson Hunter Muckel and great-grandson Mason Faulk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond M. Johnson; his mother, Rose Johnson; and his brother, Jimmy Johnson.
