Eugene George Hesse, age 83, of Coldwater, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
Gene was born on February 22, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, to Ferdinand and Henrietta (Stemple) Hesse.
He graduated from Mesa High School in 1954. He graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, and attended Arizona State University.
Gene served in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was a former member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, and a current member of the Coldwater American Legion Post # 52, and was a member of the Coldwater Elks Lodge, and the Branch County Amateur Ham Radio Club.
He worked at a grocery business in Arizona for 17 years, and retired from RCA as an electronic technician in 2003.
Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
He married Dorothy Janet (Worland) on May 31, 1957 in Mesa, Arizona, and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2001. He later married Jackie (Sherburne) Archer on March 22, 2003, she preceded him in death on December 18, 2018.
Survivors include a son, Richard (Randhi) Hesse of Roswell, New Mexico, a daughter, Saundra (Vic) Hainline of Charlotte, South Carolina, a daughter-in-law, Megan Hesse of California, a step-son, Dean (Judy) Archer, and a step-daughter, Theresa (Jeff) Van Dyke, both of Quincy, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Darren Hesse, a step-father, Lory Kelly, and a step-grandson, Derek Archer.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Pastor Mark Case officiating.
There will be one hour of calling prior to the service Saturday at the funeral Home.
Memorial donations are requested to the Coldwater American Legion Post # 52.
Burial will be at a later time at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, Mesa, Arizona.
