Gordon LeRoy VanKampen, age 87 of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1932 in Coldwater to Bert and Kate (DeKam) VanKampen. He married Joyce Ennis on January 11, 1953 and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2018.
Gordon was a graduate of Litchfield High School in 1950. He was a life-long dairy farmer and longtime member of Michigan Milk Producers. He was also a member of Farm Bureau, Litchfield Farmers Club and the Litchfield School Board. He was a member of Litchfield First Baptist church, where he also served as a deacon of the church board. Gordon was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three daughters, Amy (Michael) VanHuisen of Fort Wayne, Beth (Chris) Brenner of Litchfield and Diane (Robert) Kintigh of Concord; two sons, Paul VanKampen of Litchfield and David (Karen) VanKampen of Frederick, MD; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; daughter-in-law, Millie VanKampen; and siblings, Magelene Woodworth, Erma Parsons, Teal Chapman, and Carl, George, Harold, Harvey and Ray VanKampen.
Funeral services for Gordon VanKampen will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Litchfield First Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Hall officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Whig Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield.
