Berneice Ida “Bea” Teachout, 87, formerly of Union City, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Masonville Place in Coldwater, under the care of Southern Care Hospice, surrounded by family.
A private, graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha at a later date.
Bea was born on January 2, 1932 in Tekonsha, MI to Harry and Elizabeth (Tauscher) Howard. She attended Tekonsha, Ellis Corners and Litchfield schools before graduating from Union City. She married Robert Wright in May of 1948, Robert Haley in May of 1952 and Therrell Teachout in April of 1969, all of whom preceded her in death.
Bea had been employed by Oliver Equipment and Western Biscuit, as well as worked for 44 years at State Farm Insurance in Marshall, from which she retired in 1998. Following retirement she babysat her two great-granddaughters for several years and helped out at the Union City pre-school Learning Center.
Bea enjoyed spending time with family and loved babies. She also loved scrapbooking, making 35 for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, square dancing, roller skating, doing word puzzles and putting puzzles together. She had been a Cub Scout den mother. Bea had two Jack Russell terriers, Baxter and Jezebel. Both were rescue dogs and she loved them dearly. After entering Masonville Place, she surrendered them to her daughter’s care and they visited her several times a week.
She enjoyed the activities at Masonville, especially BINGO. Bea had attended the Burlington Church of God for many years until moving to Coldwater.
Survivors include her children, Lorraine (Garth) Kincaid of Sherwood and Bill (Diane) Haley of Union City; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Haley of Bronson; a sister-in-law, Clela Howard of Burlington; nine grandchildren: Rebecca (Amy) Kincaid, Amy Kincaid, Andrew (Heather) Kincaid, Teasha (Bryant) McIntosh, Ryan (Jen) Haley, Kevin (Robyn) Haley, Rob (Angie) Haley, Benjamin (Julie) Herman, Gloria (Mike) Taylor; 16 great-grandchildren, EricaRae Herrick, Tim Diamond, Kane Diamond, Isaac Hunt, Jacob (Danni) Kincaid, MacKenzie Kincaid, Keanu Wilhelm, Heaven Wilhelm, Jasmine (Riley) Baird, Haley McIntosh, Zoe Haley, Travis Haley, Zachary Taylor, Alyssa Taylor, Zachary Lantz and Aidan Spahr; two great-great grandchildren, Scarlett Diamond and Marlee Baird; several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Haley; nine siblings, Leslie, Edith, Eva, Leola, Leo, Warren, Harriet, Evelyn and Alice May; and a great-grandson, Owyn Spahr.
