Norma Ann Walterspaugh, 83, of Union City, passed away at home Friday, June 28, 2019.
In accordance with her wishes, Norma will be cremated and burial will be alongside her husband in a private ceremony at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Norma was born on January 19, 1936 to Leonard and Zera (Hicks) Batterson. She was the youngest living daughter of 12 siblings. On June 9, 1956, she married Larry Walterspaugh in Colon, MI. Norma had worked several years at Lamb Knit in Colon and from there American Woodcraft in Union City and Holbrook & Sons in Coldwater.
Nicknamed “Stormy”, Norma had a spitfire personality that made her a real force of nature. She loved working in her flower garden, cooking and crocheting. Norma was a member of the Red Hatters and a past member of the Union City Green Thumb Garden Club. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by a daughter, Sheryl (Wayne) Case of Coldwater and a son, Rick Walterspaugh, of Union City; a half brother-in-law, Wayne (Jackie) Walterspaugh of Battle Creek; a half sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Jake) Mathias of Bellevue; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Parks, of Union City; granddaughters Karmen Case, Michelle Sissom, Shelby (Walt) Zimmy and Amanda Walterspaugh; great-grandchildren, Wayne Case, Walynn Sissom, Wesley Zimmy, Jordan Payne, Nala Payne and Parker Payne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law, Wilma Parks; and her 11 siblings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union City Green Thumb Garden Club or the Union City Fire Department.
