COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – State health officials say the number of hospitalized adults with confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan has dropped since hitting a new pandemic high late last month.
According to the latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, there were 3,839 hospitalizations as of Monday which is down from the record 4,185 cases in late November.
Statistics also show 78 percent of available hospital beds in the state are occupied as of Monday compared to 83 percent on November 29.
According to the latest statistics posted by the state, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital had 14 COVID-19 patients on Monday with two of them in the intensive care unit. The hospital is reported to be at 88 percent capacity after being at 100 percent capacity in the middle of November.
ProMedica’s hospital in Monroe was at 90 percent capacity with 21 COVID-19 patients and seven in I.C.U. while ProMedica’s CV Hickman Hospital in Adrian was still at 100 percent capacity with 19 COVID-19 patients and two in intensive care.
Hillsdale Hospital was at 53 percent capacity with seven COVID patients and two in I.C.U..
Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall was down to 59 percent capacity with 17 patients admitted for COVID-19 and six in intensive care.
Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo was at 91 percent capacity with 66 COVID-19 patients and three in I.C.U..
Bronson Battle Creek had a capacity of 96 percent with 40 COVID-19 patients including six in intensive casre.
The latest statistics posted on the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency’s web site showed the number of Branch County COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in March of 2020 was up to 7,575. The death toll from the virus in Branch County now stands at 132.
