BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Public Schools announced Monday that a small fire occurred at Battle Creek Central High School (BCCHS). The Battle Creek Fire Department later in the day said the cause of the fire in a second floor men’s bathroom is believed to be arson.
The incident was said to have happened Monday morning,. The Fire Department said the School Officer Liason who discovered and extinguished the fire suffered smoke inhalation. No other staff or students were hurt.
Students of BCCHS and BC STEM were dismissed for the remainder of Monday. All athletics that would have taken place at BCCHS were canceled for Monday, as well.
Officials also stated that classes would resume as scheduled Tuesday, January 4.
