COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Education met in special session last night to approve nearly a dozen staff recommendations for the school district, mostly in secretary and clerk positions, in preparation for the beginning of classes for the 2015-16 school year on September 8, 2015. Coldwater School Superintendent Dr. Tina Kerr said the special session was needed because the staff needs to begin training for their new positions as soon as possible and the next regular School Board meeting when the Board otherwise would have acted on the personnel moves isn’t until August 24.
In addition to approving the appointments recommended by the administrators at the elementary buildings and the middle school and high school, the School Board also accepted four resignations, including those of two teachers. Kerr last night also revealed that on Monday, the School District officially received its $1 million Larsen Unitrust gift which is funding a new all-purpose synthetic turf football field as well as a new track. Relative to Certified Staff Recommendation:
the Board of Education regretfully accepts the resignation from Kirsten Whitacre, effective August 31, 2015; the Board of Education regretfully accepts the resignation from Lindsey Harding, effective August 10th, 2015; the Board of Education approves the recommendation to employ Kerri Jent in the position of Summer School Program Co-Teacher at CHS, effective August 3, 2015;
Relative to Secretary / Clerk Staff Recommendation:
the Board approves, with regret, the resignation of Max Larsen Elementary Secretary, Cindy Green, effective July 26,2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to appoint Aimee Smiertka to the position of full-time Secretary at Max Larsen Elementary, pending background check, effective August 21, 2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to employ Charissa Bailey in the position of part-time Secretary at Max Larsen Elementary, pending background check and secretary exam score, effective August 21, 2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to appoint Amanda Squires to the position of part-time Library Clerk at Max Larsen Elementary, effective September 1, 2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to employ Deena Cekander in the position of part-time Support Clerk at Jefferson Elementary, effective September 1, 2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to appoint Clarrissa Nowak in the position of full-time Secretary at Lakeland Elementary, effective August 21, 2015; the Board of Education approves the administrative recommendation to employ Lynn Marshall in the position of part-time Attendance Secretary at CHS, effective August 28, 2015;
