BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A three car injury accident yesterday afternoon in Branch County tied up traffic on U.S. 12 west of Bronson for more than an hour. A 44-year old woman from Sturgis was trapped in the wreckage of her car with all of the vehicles being totaled in the crash that happened shortly before 5 pm Tuesday. Dawn Hayes was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment of several possible fractures and lacerations.
The collision occurred near McMahon Drive in Bronson Township. The other two drivers, both from Bronson, suffered only minor injuries and sought their own treatment. State Police say Hayes was stopped on McMahon Drive at U.S. 12 when her car was struck by a Jeep SUV driven by 61-year old Roger Wisman of Bronson. Troopers said Wisman was eastbound on 12 getting ready to turn onto McMahon Drive when he was hit from behind by a car driven by 17-year old Sydnee Mynhier, forcing the Jeep into the Hayes car.
Mynhier was cited for failing to follow in an assured clear distance. A section of U.S. 12 near the crash was shut down for an hour and a half following the accident.
