Jerry Lee Barber, 73, of Coldwater passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will take place.
The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Jerry was born September 13, 1948 to John and Vernice (Tighe) Barber in Coldwater. He was a Coldwater High School graduate who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Jerry started his working career as an over the road truck driver and later took a position at ConAgra Foods, which is where he retired from.
March 22, 1968 he married the love of his life, Billie Rudy. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2006.
Jerry was an active member of the Coldwater American Legion, Post #52 and the Coldwater Fraternal Order of Eagles 1907. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. His true joy in life was being around his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerry will be remembered for living an independent and full life, while being very loving, social, and giving. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Tammi (Eric) Heiney of Coldwater; his siblings John (Christine) Barber of Lambertville, MI, Jean (Shannon) Powers of Muncie, IN, and James (Kathy) Barber of Houston, TX; his grandchildren Brandon (Brittany) Heiney, and Krysta (Daniel) Howells; his great grandson Beau Heiney; his great grand rabbit “Z”; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 37 years, Billie Barber; and his sister Judy Barber.
