COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater will be getting financial reimbursement from the State of Michigan following the severe storms that went through Branch County last August.
According to a report in Tuesday night’s Coldwater B.P.U. Board meeting packet, the application submitted for state disaster assistance has been approved by the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division and that a reimbursement of over $144,000 is expected to be received soon.
Branch County was declared a disaster area which allowed the City as well as other municipalities in Branch County to seek reimbursement from the state.
The storm cost reimbursement that was being sought included over $106,000 for mutual aid expenditures and utility employee overtime costs within the City’s utility funds and over $37,000 of reimbursement for mutual aid expenditures and public works employee overtime costs within the City’s General Fund.
At the time of the application, Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker said nonexempt City employees worked about 700 hours of overtime between August 11 and 15.
