COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A small portion of the west side of the City of Coldwater lost power early this morning apparently because of a lightning strike that hit after most of the Sunday night thunderstorm activity had passed by. The outage was reported to 9-1-1 Central Dispatch around 4:45 a.m. when a resident along Western Avenue heard what sounded like a transformer explosion.
The outage has affected homes along Hatch Avenue west of Green Street and also Western Avenue, north of U.S. 12 to Heritage Park as well as Penn Court. The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is on scene continuing its effort to restore the power.
