COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was a watercraft accident with injuries over the weekend in Branch County. The Sheriff’s Department said it happened in Girard Township around 2:15 p.m. Saturday on the west side of Morrison Lake. Deputies said 33-year old Diana Lyon from Westerville, Ohio was on a wake board being towed by a boat when she fell into the water and then was struck by a personal watercraft operated by 44-year old Jason Bohyer of Van Wert, Ohio.
According to deputies, when Lyon resurfaced after her fall, Bohyer attempted to avoid contact but struck Lyon in her shoulder and the back of the head. Bohyer’s speed was estimated to be around 10 MPH. Lyon was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment and later released.
The incident remains under investigation by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol .
