Laurie Aron Schwark, 74, of Coldwater, formerly of Union City, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.
In keeping with Laurie’s wishes, following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens at a later date.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Laurie Luella Schwark was born on November 27, 1947 to Guy Carlton and Marcia E. (Tooker) Schwark, Sr. She attended Athens Schools and later graduated with her diploma from Climax-Scots High School in 1993.
She had lived in Columbus, OH, Tennessee and Zainesville, OH for several years before moving back to Michigan in the 1980s. She spent the next thirty years in the Union City area. She had been married several times, but was most recently was married to Hubert Yother. He preceded her in death in March of 2000.
Laurie had moved to Three Rivers, Michigan for a few years, but had been living in Coldwater since 2010. She attended the Crossroads Church in Sherwood through the years and was baptized in 2005 there at Crossroads.
Laurie had a big heart, was funny, and could be stubborn. She loved Elvis to the point of having her middle name changed to “Aron”, the same as Elvis’ middle name. She enjoyed dancing, attending the Indian pow-wows in Athens and handing out candy everywhere she went.
Ms. Schwark is survived by her children Roberta Moore, Delmer Solis, and Crystal, her niece Darlene (Kenneth) Cornett of Leonidas, her nephew Randy (Tina) Wilson of Sherwood, cousin Vangie (Jerry) Blake of Battle Creek who helped Laurie with much love and care, 17 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her.
In addition to her husband, Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marcia Lea Hess in 2012, her sisters Jean Early and Donna Crandall, her brother Carl Schwark, her step-sister Katherine May, her step-brothers Clair Ward and Art Ward.
The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Miller and Katie Fish from ProMedica Coldwater Family Medicine Clinic for their compassionate care and concern in the last few months.
