HOMER, MI (WTVB) – The Homer Trojans defeated the Bronson Vikings 50-43 on Thursday night in the first game for the Trojans since Homer sophomore Tyson Garrett was badly injured in a Monday afternoon traffic crash.
Garrett’s uniform number is one. The Homer players wore “We Are 1” t-shirts in honor of Garrett and money was raised for Garrett’s family to help with medical expenses. Many in the large crowd had signs in support of Garrett who at last report was at Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.
As for the game, Bronson went on a 12 point run to take a 29-19 lead at halftime. But Homer controlled the second half and outscored Bronson 31-14 as they improved to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Big 8 Conference.
Bronson was led by Reagan Mayer who scored 14 points while Aden Hathaway added 12 points.
The Vikings are now 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the Big 8.
