CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Edon, Ohio man was badly injured Monday night when his vehicle struck a deer and then hit a tree just north of the Michigan-Indiana state line.
Michigan State Police say 28-year-old Mattheau Combs was injured in the crash which was reported at 7:24 p.m. on South Fremont Road near Copeland Road.
Firefighters from Fremont, Indiana had to free Combs from the vehicle. Efforts to transport Combs by a medical helicopter were unsuccessful.
He was taken by Life Care Ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with what were described by the State Police as life threatening injuries.
