COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The South Central Michigan Planning Council is continuing to work on updating Branch County’s Master Plan.
A presentation on the work that has been done so far was made to the Branch County Planning Commission on Wednesday by the Council’s Lee Adams and Patrick Hudson.
Chair Debbie Lounds-Bowers told Commission members to look over the materials and seemed to be pleased with the progress so far saying, “it’s amazing, got a lot done.”
Hudson indicated there is still a long way to go. He told the commission, “this is the easy part, the tough part comes when we start getting the information and the updates about how you want to vision the future.”
It was expected the work on an updated Master Plan would take a couple of years.
Updating the County’s Master Plan was called for by the Concerned Citizens of Branch County a couple of years ago.
The citizens group has been opposed to the siting of proposed wind turbines in the northwestern part of the county by DTE Energy.
The utility announced last month it was suspending efforts to develop a wind project in Branch County because of the current economic climate and other factors.
