COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The latest update from Branch County Emergency Management shows there are 302 locations within the county that have hazardous substances on site. County Emergency Management Director Tim Miner last week received the 2015 hazardous site report from the state.
Confirmation of the locations will allow Miner to finish his Tier 2 report which includes a review of what hazardous substances the companies have and the site plans they have submitted. Tier 2 is then returned to the state and Miner passes along the information to local public safety officials.
If there is a fire or other incident, the first responders, law enforcement and fire departments can then be aware of the boundaries for the standoff zones on the properties.
