COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Education met last night in special session to interview 4 candidates who applied to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Board that will be created when current Board President Robin Iveson retires at the end of the month. Board members posed their questions to David Malott, Chad Johnson, Ron Lanford, and Steve Rutz.
Whichever candidate is selected by the Board, he’ll be sworn into office at their July 16th meeting. The replacement for Iveson will serve until the November 2016 school board election and if he chooses to run again and wins that election, he would fill out the final two years of Iveson’s 6-year term.
Lanford was appointed to the Board in August of 2013 to complete the term of Rick Gates but failed to win a full term to the Board when he lost out in the election last November. Rutz was also an unsuccessful write-in candidate IN 2014.
