BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Eighteen wrestlers from Branch County will wrap up their seasons at Ford Field. They qualified for the M.H.S.A.A. Finals by finishing in the top four of their weight classes at the Individual M.H.S.A.A. regional tournaments.
Union City set a new school record by qualifying nine wrestlers for the Individual State Finals. Four Chargers won regional championships at Schoolcraft. They were Landyn Crance at 125, Brayton Mears at 140, Colton Russell at 145 and Garrett Iobe at 160. Other Chargers who are headed to Detroit are Logan Mears (103), Grady Iobe (215), Aidan Taylor (130), Garrett Halder (189), Montana Connell (135).
Bronson sent six on to Detroit. They were Aiden Fill (103), Perry Lake (119), Devlin Duff (145), Carson Norton (152), Jacob Britten (171) and Jacob Dixon (189). It was announced during the meet that Bronson coach Chad Butters was voted the Division Four Regional 16 Coach of the Year by other coaches in the region.
Quincy’s Jacob Reif won the Division Three regional championship at Constantine at 125 pounds. Reif along with Devin George (189) and Hunter Spieth (215) will be going to Detroit.
Coldwater’s Tre Miller (119) and Hunter Munson (160) competed at the Division Two regional meet at Niles. Neither was able to advance to Ford Field.
