GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – Bronson plays in the MHSAA Division 3 state softball quarterfinals this afternoon. The Lady Vikings have a Sweet Sixteen showdown against Grand Rapids West Catholic starting at 2 p.m. at Davenport University just outside of Grand Rapids.
Bronson is the last county school still playing in the second spring sports season after the baseball and softball teams from Coldwater and Quincy were eliminated Saturday in the regionals. Bronson, which has a 35-7 record, last made it to the quarterfinals in 2013 while for West Catholic, it’s their deepest ever run in the tournament with their record at 27-2.
The softball quarterfinal winners advance to the season ending semifinals and finals Friday and Saturday at Michigan State University. If Bronson wins this afternoon, they would take on either Traverse City St. Francis or Montague Friday at 5:30 p.m.
In girls soccer, tonight’s state semifinals includes two time defending Division 2 champion Gull Lake vs. DeWitt at Grand Rapids Christian.
