EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Fairly even scoring among their 5 golfers put Coldwater tied for 7th place after the opening day Friday at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 Finals. In action at the Forest Akers East Course at Michigan State University, the Cardinals fired a 313, tying them with Petoskey. Dewitt shot an opening round 290, while defending state champion Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood was second at 299, followed by Dearborn Divine Child at 299.
Individually, Cam Ruge lead Coldwater with a 76, followed by Nathan Waterbury at 78, Nolan Duda at 79, Keagan Dwyer with an 80, and Stephen Boston at 81.
The second and final round of the state finals tees off at 9 a.m. Saturday, also at Forest Akers east.
