COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals are set to tee it up for the Division Two Boys State Golf Finals which will be played today and tomorrow at Forest Acres East at Michigan State University. It’s a 9 a.m. start for both days. Coldwater enters the Finals as the number six team in the Division Two Coaches poll, with defending champion Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood ranked number-one.
Tomorrow, it’s the MHSAA baseball and softball Regional semifinals and finals with a strong Branch County presence in the second week of state tournament play. In Division Two baseball and softball, it’s Coldwater at the Edwardsburg Regional. The baseball Cardinals take on Stevensville-Lakeshore at ten am Saturday in the semifinals while in softball, it’s a Noon contest for Coldwater against St. Joseph. In Division Three baseball and softball, Quincy is at the Lansing Catholic Regional. In baseball, the Orioles have a 10 am semifinal game vs. Parchment while there’s a county matchup in softball as Quincy takes on Bronson in the semifinals at 10 am. Saturday’s Regional champions advance to next Tuesday’s quarterfinals.
In girls soccer, a state tournament winning streak that stretches back to 2013 will be on the line tonight for two time Division Two champion Gull Lake as the Blue Devils take on Holland Christian in a Regional title match at Vicksburg High School.

In summer league Mickey Mantle baseball yesterday, Coldwater swept a doubleheader from Tekonsha 5-3 and 12-6. The winning pitchers were Alex Everett and Lucas Santure. In the opener, Porter Skidmore went 2-for-3 with an RBI while in the second game, Brent Smoker had two singles and 2 RBI’s. Coldwater improved their record to 3-1.
