COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A quarter million dollar bond was set yesterday for a meth lab suspect busted by Coldwater City Police in the early morning hours of Tuesday. 32-year old Keith Combs of Ft. Wayne was arraigned in Branch County District Court. His alleged partner in the operation, a 23-year old Coldwater woman, is scheduled to be formally charged today after her arraignment was delayed yesterday due to an appearance in Probate Court.
City Police say the two were taken into custody following a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. Monday night near West Chicago and Rose streets. Combs was driving on a suspended license. Officers say they found and seized methamphetamine related items in the car.
Further investigation prompted a request for a search warrant which City Police along with a Branch County Sheriff’s deputy served about three in the morning at the Eastwind Apartments at 299 Cutter Avenue where the female suspect lived. Numerous meth-related items were discovered there and further assistance was provided by the Coldwater Fire Department.
Combs is scheduled to return to District Court for a probable cause hearing next Tuesday.
