COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The members of Coldwater High School’s Class of 2015 will officially receive their diplomas in a little over a week’s time. They did get the chance to celebrate all they accomplished in school during the traditional Senior Convocation ceremony which concludes their academic careers at CHS. Of note during the ceremony:
- A record 27 students were named Senior Scholars, the school’s highest academic achievement, which is attained by earning both a high GPA and a high score on a national standardized test like the ACT. Congratulations go out to Shelby Bowers, Ashley Chase, Jenny Daoud, Zach DeMeester, Addison Duda, Emma Dwyer, Fatamah Esa, Cameron Hart, Emily Hicks, Cadence Jones, Spencer Leist, Jessica Leviton, Sabrina Machida, Jesse Mangat, Tyson McKinley, Kelsey Parrish, Derek Sammons, Daniel Shirkey, Carlee Smoker, Logan Targgart, Lindsay Villa, Jared Ward, Kollin Wark, Jessica Weaver, Mina Wellet, Emma Winter, and Gavin Yates.
- For the first time, a single student, Jessica Leviton, received Senior Student of the Year honors from three different academic departments: English, social studies, and math. Leviton was also a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship. Zach DeMeester was named by the science department as its Senior Student of the Year.
The seniors’ last day concluded with the traditional Swing Out walk through downtown Coldwater and lunch at the First Baptist Church. Coldwater’s Commencement Exercises will be held on Sunday, June 7, beginning at 5pm at Cardinal Field. This weekend, Quincy High School’s Class of 2015 will have their day in the sun, with graduation ceremonies set for this Sunday at 2pm at the QHS Athletic Field, or inside the gym in case of rain.
