QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Animal Control shelter was heavily damaged by fire late this afternoon. The blaze at the facility located off South Ray Quincy road in Algansee Township broke out on the west end of the building near an outside incinerator. The six dogs that were in the building at the time were rescued from their kennels by Quincy fire chief Kurt Barve and Branch County Sheriff’s Department deputy Steve Foster.
Tanker trucks and firemen from Coldwater, Allen, and Fremont,Indiana assisted Quincy. The blaze was declared out shortly before 8 pm around two and a half hours after the first fire alarm was sounded.
