COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Drunk driving is a growing problem that appears to be getting much worse in Branch County. Drunk driving cases in the county, according to figures from Branch County District Court, doubled from 151 in 2012 to 302 in 2013. And the trend continued last year, going up another 200 cases to 502 in 2014. The numbers include marine, ORV, and snowmobile offenses.
The annual report from the District Court also reported on drug cases, which have leveled off since taking a big jump 3 years ago. They numbered 344 in 2012, but then in both 2013 and last year, drug cases moving through District Court dropped to 227.
