COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors approved a low bid of over one million, 237 thousand dollars Wednesday night from Concord Excavating and Grading Incorporated for the Michigan/Washington/Perkins utility and road improvement project.
Concord was one of six contractors that bid on the project.
The project was included in the CBPU’s capital improvement budget and came in under the engineering estimate of $1,700,000.
Brian Musselman from the B.P.U. said the construction would include improvements to storm water, water and wastewater as well as road and sidewalk improvements.
Because of supply issues, the lead time to get some materials may take up to 26 weeks which may delay the project. The full project will still need City Council final approval.
Also on Wednesday, the B.P.U. Board approved three engineering services agreements with GRP Engineering.
Two would be for work at the Bennett Street substation. A $24,000 agreement would be for the support and redesign of the circuits while a $76,000 agreement would be for the upgrade of the 13.8 kilovolt relay panel with the work being finished by April of 2023.
The other agreement would be for the distribution circuit relay panel upgrade at the Michigan Avenue substation at a total cost of $68,000.
