BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices around Branch County have dropped in recent days but you’re still paying more than four dollars a gallon at some locations.
The web site www.gasbuddy.com reports that after jumping nearly a dollar a gallon to $4.25 in the days after Russia invaded Ukraine, prices dropped another dime on Tuesday to $4.09 at several locations in Coldwater.
A station in Bronson was still selling gas for $4.25 but a couple of stations in Quincy were selling gas at $3.99 a gallon.
Comparing prices around the area, gas is as low as $3.97 in Hillsdale. It was selling for $4.19 in Kinderhook and between $4.18 and $4.21 in the Angola area.
According to Triple-A, a record for the average price of gas for the State of Michigan was set last Thursday at $4.26.
The drop in gas prices mirrors the fall of crude oil prices in the last week. After getting up to as high as $131 a barrel, the price stood at $98 on Wednesday morning.
