COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Young people today are living in a culture that is greatly different since the beginning of the 21st century becoming the first generation to have always been digitally connected.
Dan Erwin, who spoke at this week’s meeting of the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club, was hired in January as the director of the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center in Coldwater.
He told the Rotarians that students are now what he calls “screenagers”.
Erwin then further defined what it means for our youth to be tied to the grid.
The flagship program at the Eby Center is Friday Night Alive which is now averaging about 40 kids a night.
Erwin, who is a native of Bronson, became the Children’s and Youth Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater in July of 2018.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology counseling and biblical studies from Grace Theological Seminary College in 2016.
