COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Today is the National Day of Prayer. A recent Pew Research poll says more than half of Americans say they pray every day. About 20 percent say they rarely pray, if ever. A Branch County Prayer Day Breakfast was held this morning at the Coldwater Free Methodist Church on North Fremont street with State Senator Mike Shirkey the guest speaker. The National Day of Prayer was enacted in 1952. That came just a few years before the words “under God” were added to the Pledge of Allegiance.
