INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WKZO AM/FM) – The University of Michigan men’s basketball team pulled off a first-round upset and advanced in the NCAA Tournament Thursday.
The 11th-seeded Wolverines outscored sixth-seeded Colorado State 46-27 in the second half to rally for a 75-63 win in opening round action in Indianapolis.
Hunter Dickinson led the way with 21 points for Michigan, which will meet third-seeded Tennessee in round two at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Seven-seed Michigan State University opens NCAA tournament play at 9:40 p.m. tonight against 10-seed Davidson. The Spartans, 22-and-12, face former MSU teammate Foster Loyer, who helped the Wildcats to a 25-and-5 record.
The winner moves on to the second round to face either two-seed Duke or 15-seed Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.
