COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, yesterday’s rain wiped out all of Tuesday’s baseball and softball games and track meets with some of the events rescheduled for today and later this week. The one exception to the postponements yesterday was boys golf for Coldwater and the Cardinals came away with a third place finish out of 19 teams in the Onsted Invitational at the Grande Golf Club in Jackson.
Coldwater had a team score of 318 while St. John’s won the event with a 311 total followed by Saline at 312. Cam Ruge led the Cardinals with a 75 which tied him for second place overall. Nolan Duda tied for seventh with a 78, Stephan Boston came in tenth place with an 80, Keagan Dwyer shot an 85 and Nick Galliers rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a 91. The Cardinals travel to Marshall today for the last Interstate Eight Jamboree of the season.
The Coldwater varsity baseball and softball games at Jackson Lumen Christi that were postponed yesterday have been rescheduled for today while the Quincy at Union City baseball and softball games are now set for Friday. And in track, Quincy’s meet at Springport has been rescheduled for this afternoon.
Otherwise on the original schedule for today, in girls soccer, it’s Coldwater at Jackson Lumen Christi. In track, it’s Bronson at Mendon and Union City at Athens. In boy’s golf, Union City hosts Bronson at the Turtle Creek Golf Course. And in Girls tennis, Bronson plays at home against Kalamazoo Christian.
Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s Bronson softball coach Becky Gray.
