COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices jumped up again over the weekend across most of Branch County and Southwest Michigan. The analysts predicted they had peaked about a month ago but instead, pump prices have mostly continued to rise ever since. AAA of Michigan is blaming the rising price of crude on the global market, regional refinery issues and the fact that May 1st was the deadline for the introduction of the more expensive summer blends at terminals.
AAA’s average price of $2.56 per gallon was recorded Friday. Many stations have spiked to around $2.70 per gallon since then.
