KALAMAZOO & COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Governor Snyder has begun a cross state bus tour in a specially painted bus to promote a yes vote for Proposal 1 on Tuesday, and trying to downplay the polls which suggest that the road funding issue may get crushed by voters. Friday he made stops in Cadillac, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo and was his relentlessly positive self, saying they aren’t throwing in the towel. He says in these low turnout special elections it all depends on who votes. The latest Epic MRA poll taken just last week shows the roads proposal losing by better than two to one.
Voters who live within the Coldwater school district will have two additional proposals to consider on Tuesday. Proposal 1 seeks a property tax increase of 2.95 mills for 25 years for technology, security, and infrastructure improvements along with the construction of a new 4th and 5th grade elementary building, while Proposal 2 requests a .6 mill property tax increase for 20 years to build a 900-seat auditorium at Coldwater High School.
