COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Monday night in Interstate 8 Conference girls soccer, Coldwater lost at home to Pennfield 3-1. The Cardinals fell behind early when Pennfield scored 4 minutes into the game, but Coldwater came back 1:45 later and netted the equalizer on a goal from Madison Marsh, assisted by Breanna Eddy. Pennfield got another goal just before halftime, and their final score came with 25 minutes to play in the second half. Shelby Bowers made 8 saves in goal for the Cardinals. The loss dropped Coldwater’s record to 0-2 in the I-8 and 4-3-2 overall. They will play at Parma Western on Thursday.
The Coldwater JV team beat Pennfield 3-1. Carlie Wilson had 2 goals, while Erika Sosa Aguilar had one goal and one assist and Brooke Neitzert had one assist.
Yesterday in baseball, Union City split a non-conference doubleheader at home against Colon. The visiting Magi beat Union City in the opener 9-6 with Colin Kreger the losing pitcher. Cody Link had a double and a single with an RBI. In the 5-inning nightcap, the Chargers defeated Colon 11-7. Kenyon Stuchell went the distance with a 3-hitter. Stuchell and Link had 3 singles apiece with 2 RBI’s and 5 stolen bases for Stuchell. Union City’s record is now 7-8.
In freshman baseball yesterday, Coldwater swept a doubleheader at home over Parma Western winning both games 10-4. Cody Nill picked up the victory on the mound in game one. Brent Smoker had 2 singles and 2 RBI’s. In the nightcap, Brady Snow was the winning pitcher. Blake Yates had 2 singles and 2 RBI’s and Oliver Winter had a double and 2 RBI’s.
Yesterday in softball, Union City swept a doubleheader at home over Colon 6-4 and 19-6. Marissa Mead was the winning pitcher in both games. Brenna Johnson had 2 hits and an RBI in the opener while in the second game, Skyler Herman had 3 hits with a triple and a double and 3 RBI’s. Morgan Welke added 2 hits with a triple and 2 RBI’s.
Yesterday in girl’s tennis, Coldwater fell 6-2 at Parma Western. Winners for Coldwater were Emma Grife at first singles and Karissa Harrell at third singles.

Yesterday in middle school sports, in tennis, Coldwater’s “B” team played to a 4-4 tie at home against Marshall. Mema Yaldo was a winner at second singles while also earning victories were Mae Blansit and Diana Kashian at first doubles, Madisyn Moran and Morgan Rakoske at second doubles and Lanoe Henderson and Allison Caswell at fourth doubles.
