BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The process of getting police and fire agencies switched over to the new 800 megahertz radio system is continuing this week.
New 800 megahertz radios are being installed in all 21 Branch County Sheriff Department patrol cars and their five boats for the improved emergency dispatch radio system.
The new radio system went live for police on March 21 in Branch County.
Fire departments around Branch County switched to the new system on February 14.
The system uses new towers put up around Branch County last summer.
It replaces the system installed in the early 1990’s.
It is designed to provide better coverage and increase safety for police and firefighters.
