COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two men injured last night in Branch County in separate traffic accidents have been hospitalized and after they’re released they will be headed to jail on suspected drunk driving and drugged driving charges. Michigan State Police say the first crash happened just before 6 p.m. in Girard Township on southbound I-69 when the driver of a car lost control of his vehicle and rolled it in the median near the 16-mile marker. He was admitted to the Community Health Center of Branch County with non-life threatening injuries and will eventually be booked on a charge of operating under the influence of drugs. Troopers say he’s from Kalamazoo but lately has been living in Coldwater.
Then shortly after 9 p.m., State Police say a pickup driven by an Indiana man ran off Central Road and smashed into a tree near Stringtown Road in Algansee Township. Like the first accident, the driver will survive. A charge of operating while impaired awaits his discharge from the Health Center. Troopers have not released the names of the two men involved in the accidents.
