COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners is scheduled next Tuesday to take formal action on a request from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency to place a “Lock it Up” sign on the Courthouse property.
The sign is designed to tell people to lock up their marijuana in order to keep it away from their children.
Commissioner Jon Houtz said it’s similar to what was earlier done with firearms.
County Administrator Bud Norman pointed out Commissioners have to give their okay before anything can be placed on the Courthouse property.
Norman said the sign would be up until the first part of summer.
The campaign urges people to lock up medical and recreational marijuana in order to keep children safe. Doing so would also prevent accidental poisoning as well as theft of the marijuana.
More information can be found at the Community Health Agency’s web site which is www.bhsj.org.
