MONROE, MI (WTVB) – With the end of Winter Protection Plans, Michigan Gas Utilities is urging customers who are behind on natural gas bills to contact the company now to avoid a disconnection.
M.G.U. says about two percent of their customers are at risk for being disconnected.
The company provides payment plans and information about heating assistance to help customers who are behind on bills.
Customers behind on natural gas bills can enroll in a payment arrangement or find out more information by using the MGU app or by logging onto www.michigangasutilities.com.

Customers who receive a disconnection notice must contact Michigan Gas to set up a payment arrangement and stay connected.
Utility representatives are available 24 hours a day to assist customers.
Customers having difficulty with energy bills may be eligible to receive energy assistance or credits through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan Department of Treasury and Michigan Energy Assistance Program.
