COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls varsity softball team opened the Interstate 8 Conference portion of their schedule Thursday night with a doubleheader sweep of Harper Creek at Rotary Field.
The Cardinals won the opener 11-0 thanks to a no hitter by winning pitcher Alexis Bills. She struck out 15 batters in the game which was stopped in the last of the sixth on the 10 run mercy rule when Bills belted a two run homer.
Kenzie Scheid added three hits and two RBI’s.
Scheid was the winning pitcher in the second game which was ended by the mercy in the fifth inning. She also had two of the Cardinals 14 hits.
Karlie Knisely had the hot bat for Coldwater in game two with three hits including two home runs. She also had three RBI’s and scored three runs.
Coldwater is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
