COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The front yard of the Branch County jail along Marshall Road has had the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign banners in place for a spring drunk driving crackdown for the past two weeks. Over the weekend, 8 drivers in the county apparently didn’t get the message. 6 men and 2 women were booked at the county jail between Friday and yesterday on charges of operating while impaired.
Four were arrested Saturday, 3 on Sunday and one on Friday. One was also charged with driving with a suspended license while another had a blood alcohol level of .17 or higher, putting him in the “super drunk” category. Michigan State Police made 4 of the drunk-driving stops, there were 2 by Coldwater City Police and one each in Quincy and Bronson.
This Spring DUI enforcement effort runs through April 7th.
