COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A blaze last night in Branch County destroyed a barn at a goat farm in Ovid Township. No animals were hurt in the fire caused by a heat lamp. Lakeland firefighters found the small structure engulfed in flames when they reached the scene at 143 East Central Road around 7:30 p.m.
The barn is used mostly for hay and feed although there were two small goats inside last night and both managed to escape the fire. The owner and operator of the farm, Mary Beth Schelinski, was not at home when the fire broke out. Firemen were on the job for about an hour.
