COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the spring season schedule for county teams opens today with two indoor events for Coldwater. In Varsity track, it’s the Huron Relays at Eastern Michigan University while in Varsity Girls Tennis, the Lady Cardinals travel to Jenison for the Ramblewood Invitational.
The MHSAA girls basketball Final Four tipped off yesterday at the Breslin Center and the last Branch County area team still alive in the tournament stayed on course for a possible perfect season. Last night in the Class D semifinals, second ranked Pittsford improved to 26-0 with a 57-26 win over Waterford Our Lady. The Wildcats will take on sixth-ranked St. Ignace LaSalle in tomorrow morning’s title game at 10 am in the opening contest on Championship Saturday at the Breslin Center, where today it’s the Class A and Class B semifinals.
The boys basketball season will wrap up next week starting with Tuesday’s State Tournament quarterfinals. Today on the Coaches Corner, we’ll preview the season ahead for Coldwater Girls Tennis.
