COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A weekend fire heavily damaged a mobile home in Coldwater. The blaze early Saturday evening at 260 East Garfield Road, lot #53 was sparked by food left unattended on a stove. The owner, Paul Kibert, was able to escape without injury.
Coldwater firemen discovered heavy smoke showing when they arrived around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. They quickly knocked down and extinguished the fire but not before there was heavy damage to the kitchen and dining room areas with smoke damage throughout the structure. The property was uninsured. The fire department was on the job for an hour and a half.
The Branch County Victim Services unit assisted the occupants of the mobile home.
