GOBLES, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 47-year-old Van Buren County man was arrested Wednesday after police say he swung an axe at a man and punched a anther man.
MLive is reporting Van Buren County sheriff’s deputies responded about 9:45 a.m. to the 31000 block of 28th Avenue, just south of Gobles, on a report of an assault.
Two men told police they were on Aleman Township property when they found a man near a shack in woods. One of the men reported being punched by the person near the shack.
The two men also said the assailant retrieved an axe from the shed and swung it at them,
They called 911 and left the immediate area.
Police arrived and tried to take the person into custody. He resisted arrest, deputies said, and allegedly punched a Michigan State Police trooper.
Police used a Taser on the man but he continued to resist. They were eventually able to subdue him, and he remains lodged in the Van Buren County Jail.
